Located in Kársnes Harbour, Kópavogur, Sky Lagoon is a manmade lagoon with an unobstructed 70m infinity edge, and this will produce a visual effect that will see it blending into the ocean landscape. Its design elements are influenced by Icelandic culture and modelled after Icelandic turf houses, with deep insulation for the cold season and moss roofs.

The lagoon will offer guests the chance to enjoy unobstructed views of the Atlantic, as well as the opportunity to catch colourful sunsets, northern lights and dark sky views. Inspired by Iceland’s long-standing spa culture, it will aim to provide a restorative spa-like ritual that is rooted in Icelandic tradition.

Currently under construction, the lagoon will also feature a cold pool and sauna experiences, as well as an in-lagoon bar and dining and retail offerings. Pursuit, a company that offers a collection of attraction and hospitality experiences, will operate Sky Lagoon through the Icelandic entity Atlantic, in co-operation with Nature Resort, an Icelandic company.

“We are thrilled to unveil plans to develop a remarkable geothermal lagoon experience along one of Iceland’s most stunning oceanfront locations,” says Dagny Petursdottir, general manager of Sky Lagoon. “The rejuvenating and relaxing retreat, situated against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean yet so close to Reykjavik’s vibrant urban centre, will enable guests to connect with mind, body and spirit through the radiant powers of geothermal waters while taking in such impressive ocean views.”
